With funding from the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) and support from Salt River Project (SRP) and Tucson Electric Power (TEP), Apache County is working with Ethos/Commnet to implement a fiber network which connects more than 3,000 homes and businesses in eight communities to high-speed internet. The eight communities will include Alpine, Concho, Eagar, Greer, Nutrioso, Springerville, St. Johns and Vernon. The project consists of fiber to the home (FTTH) utilizing the pre-existing middle mile fiber owned by Ethos/Commnet. In addition, Apache County's goal is to create a Wide Area Network (WAN) that will connect all of the county facilities together, ultimately improving productivity and reliability.
